Global Voices in Song™

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Global Voices Interactive, Global Voices Comprehensive, and Global Voices?

The Global Voices Interactive series presents music of a culture, with the goal of re-creating the music and gaining a better understanding of the culture from which it comes.  Now available is "Sotho and Zulu Songs" which includes four songs from the South African Sotho and Zulu cultures.  There is an in-depth section on the culture where users can learn about South Africa and even practice speaking in the native languages.

The Global Voices Comprehensive series is intended as a resource for the study of a particular culture.  Its holistic approach covers music and arts, as well as history, language, and textiles.  It is a must for social studies classrooms.  Now available is the volume on Azerbaijan.

Related to these products is the Global Voices series, created and published in collaboration with MacMillan/McGraw-Hill's series textbook Spotlight on Music. These products are in DVD format to allow for greater accessibility in the classroom. The six DVDs in the series each have four songs from various cultures and are arranged according to grade level. The songs are introduced both visually and aurally, and include a brief culture section to place them in proper context. These DVDs are available independent of the Spotlight on Music textbooks.
